David Mitchell – Chair, South East Local Land Services
David Mitchell was appointed local Chair of South East LLS on 3 October 2013.
David is an experienced leader with close connections in the local community through many years of involvement across a number of organisations.
He is a vastly experienced and informed leader with a strong understanding of agriculture, natural resource management and the issues facing rural and regional NSW.
A partner in a major family run sheep enterprise at Delegate, David was the founding chairman of Monaro Farming Systems, a producer research, information, and development group.
He has also held various leadership positions across the South Eastern region with an array of organisations including Landcare.
David has always sought opportunities for continued personal development and has completed a number of educational and leadership programs designed to give him a better understanding of his chosen fields, including the Rabobank Executive Development Program in 2011.
David also delivered a paper titled “Successful Family Farming in Australia” to the 21st Commonwealth Royal Agricultural Society Conference in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 2002.
David has been a committee member of the Men from Snowy River Re-enactment March since 2004, remembering the young local men, recruited from the local area in 1916, to fight in WW1 and also plays the bagpipes at the annual Anzac Day Service in Delegate.
