Pasture update for beef producers

Highlands beef producers are invited to hear the latest in pasture research at a Grasslands Society of NSW pasture update to be held on Friday, 8 May 2015 at Bomaderry.

The update is funded by Meat and Livestock Australia and is supported by South East Local Land Services and NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI).

Senior Land Services Officer, Geoff O'Connor said beef producers with an interest in improving pasture profitability are encouraged to attend.

"The update will include a morning of presentations, followed by lunch and a Manildra Farm visit," Mr O'Connor said.

"A range of speakers will discuss topics such as pasture management, pasture species selection, seasonal variation to increase productivity, and fertiliser trials to optimise fertiliser use for greater cost efficiency.

"Steve Exton, NSW DPI will provide an update on the latest beef research and Steve Thompson, Manildra Farm Manager will discuss soil and pasture management and what Manildra did to win the 2014 NSW silage competition.

"The cost of day is $20 and includes morning tea and lunch. Registration is essential," Mr O'Connor said.
