Free seasonal update for livestock producers

South East Local Land Services is inviting Southern Highlands livestock producers to attend a free information session on current seasonal conditions and preparing for the summer ahead.

Senior Land Services Officer, Geoff O'Connor said these sessions will provide producers and land managers with an opportunity to meet with Local Land Services staff and hear about useful land management options in preparation for the summer period.

“Local Land Services organises these regular seasonal updates across the region to provide land managers with an opportunity to access information first-hand from livestock health and pasture management specialists in an on-farm format,” Mr O’Connor said.

“Attendees have indicated these updates are valuable and very practical.

"District Veterinarian, Steve Whittaker will provide a livestock health update with a focus on spring and summer health issues.

"Paddy Cleary, Elders Moss Vale, will update attendees on cattle marketing and the 2017 local market forecast.

"Adam Little, Pasture Genetics, will discuss pasture systems and management.

"Spring is the time to plan for autumn and there will be discussion on current forage options and future planning," Mr O’Connor said.

The seasonal update will be held from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm on Friday, 28 October at 'Sheldon Park', 1810 Jamberoo Mountain Road, Robertson with morning tea provided.
