Raising healthy hens

South East Local Land Services provides local landholders with access to information and assistance to help improve their land management and production skills.

A free one-day workshop will be held on 18 June from 9 am and 4 pm at the Tombarra Education Centre, Braidwood for people who are, or have an interest in, running a small to medium scale poultry enterprise.

Senior Land Services Officer, Rebecca Bradley said the event is a combined initiative of Wynlen House and South East Local Land Services.

“The workshop will cover a range of topics designed to improve the overall health of your poultry, your land and your consumers,” Mrs Bradley said.

“It will assist participants to develop an understanding of basic poultry husbandry essentials, how to identify and manage poultry diseases and other health issues, how to make decisions regarding appropriate medications and the safe provision of food.

“Opportunity will be made during the day for participants to discuss their own enterprise and any questions they may have with presenters including Bronwyn Richards, Wynlen House;  Dr Jayne Weller, Exotic Animal Veterinary Service http://www.exoticanimalvet.com.au/  and Dr Kate Sawford, South East Local Land Services.

“South East Local Land Services will also provide advice regarding land management decisions and feral animal management during the day.”
