Currendooley and Sutton region fire support meeting

Local Land Services, in partnership with NSW Department of Primary Industries, the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program, emergency services agencies and Blazeaid, is hosting a support meeting next week for people who were affected by the Currendooley and Sutton region fire last month.

The meeting will be held at Tarago Community Hall at 5pm on Monday 13 February.

South East Local Land Services General Manager Derek Larsen said the purpose of the meeting was to provide support and advice to landholders who have been affected by the recent fires.

“The community response to the fires has been fantastic, with many donations of hay and other support," Mr Larsen said.

"We felt it was important to get everyone in the one room so people that have been affected by the fires, as well as members of the wider community, can come together, share their experiences and learn what further help in available.”

Landholders will be able to hear from and speak with the following groups/representatives on the night:

  • South East Local Land Services
  • Beverly Houterman – Rural Financial Counsellor
  • Jen Keioskie – Rural Adversity Mental Health Program
  • Ted O’Kane – NSW DPI Rural Resilience Program
  • emergency services representatives
  • Blazeaid volunteer support program.

A free barbecue and refreshments will be provided by Tarago CWA.
