It's showtime for Goulburn LLS

The Goulburn Local Land Services team will be out and about over the next few weeks as show season comes to the region.

The team will have a stall at the Crookwell and Moss Vale shows and is encouraging land managers to come and have a chat and learn a bit more about the services LLS provides.

“Rate payers are currently receiving their annual rates notice in the mail so now is a great opportunity to speak with one of our team, learn a bit more about the support and services we provide and how we can help you meet your obligations as a rural land manager.” said Goulburn LLS local area manager Aaron Smith.

These obligations include managing pest animals on your property. The Feral Fighters program was created to bring together community groups and neighbours to target pest animals in a more coordinated manner.

The program, funded by the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program, now has over 2,000 members across the South East and it is hoped that it will expand further ahead of the upcoming autumn group bait targeting foxes.

“We already have a committed group involved in our Feral Fighters program,” said Aaron.

“But we know that pest control works better the more people we have involved. So we’re encouraging anyone who is not yet accredited, or whose accreditation has expired, to come along to one of our training sessions and to start a conversation about group control with their neighbours.”

Members of the Feral Fighters program received training and a limited supply of baits free of charge.

The next training session for land managers whose accreditation has expired, or for land managers who do not yet have accreditation, is planned for:

  • Monday 5 February at 10.00am at the Goulburn LLS office, 165 Auburn St Goulburn

To find out more about the Feral Fighters program or to register to attend the training session call the Goulburn LLS office on 4824 1900.
